Fantasy & Whimsical Art
Inspired by imagination, wonder, and the unexpected, Roberta’s fantasy and whimsical artwork invites viewers into magical worlds filled with playful characters, dreamlike settings, and visual storytelling. These pieces celebrate creativity and curiosity, encouraging viewers to rediscover the sense of wonder that often accompanies childhood.

Inspired by the Magic of Childhood
My love of fantasy and whimsical art began long before I ever considered becoming an illustrator. As a child, I would sit for hours in my little rocking chair studying the illustrations in a beloved Big Golden Book called Elves and Fairies, illustrated by Garth Williams. Every page felt like a doorway into another world, filled with magical creatures, hidden stories, and endless possibilities.
I was equally captivated by the beautifully bound My Bookhouse collection, edited by Olive Beaupré Miller. The delicate pen and ink illustrations, combined with subtle washes of color, invited me into imaginative worlds where fairies danced among flowers, animals spoke, and ordinary moments became extraordinary adventures. Those early experiences shaped my lifelong belief that art has the power to transport us beyond the everyday and awaken our sense of wonder.

Creating Enchanted Worlds Through Art
Fantasy art allows me to explore the limitless possibilities of imagination. Through fairies, woodland creatures, magical beings, and nature spirits, I create visual stories that celebrate curiosity, adventure, and the hidden magic that surrounds us.
Many of my whimsical illustrations are inspired by the natural world. Butterflies become fairy wings, ancient trees become wise storytellers, and animals become companions on extraordinary journeys. I love creating scenes filled with small details and unexpected discoveries that encourage viewers to slow down, look closely, and become part of the story themselves.

Nature, Seasons & Storytelling
The changing seasons often play an important role in my fantasy artwork. Spring blossoms, autumn leaves, forest creatures, flowers, mushrooms, acorns, and winding vines frequently appear throughout my illustrations, creating environments where imagination and nature exist side by side.
These natural elements help ground even the most magical scenes in something familiar and relatable. Whether depicting playful fairies among flowering branches, woodland creatures gathering beneath autumn leaves, or enchanted characters hidden within a forest landscape, my goal is to create artwork that celebrates both the beauty of nature and the joy of storytelling.

A Celebration of Wonder
At its heart, whimsical art is about keeping a sense of wonder alive. Children instinctively believe that magic exists just beyond what we can see, and I think many adults carry that belief with them throughout their lives. Through my fantasy illustrations, I hope to rekindle that feeling of possibility, inviting viewers to imagine worlds where anything can happen and every creature has a story to tell.
These illustrations are a celebration of imagination, curiosity, friendship, nature, and the enduring magic of childhood. They reflect my lifelong love of storytelling and my belief that art can inspire us to see the world with fresh eyes and an open heart.
